Evaluation of Health Self-Care Power of Physicians: Tailor cannot Sew his/her own Tear!
Tailor can not sew his own tear ( the shoemaker’s son always goes bare foot) means in the dictionary: Some one can use his knowledge to help others, but he can’t use it for himself. Our aim in this study is to reveal how much the physicians, who can be described as health distributors, pay attention to their self-care based on this proverb. Population of the study consists of physicians in Konya. This study was conducted with a survey consisting of two parts. In the first part, there are demographic questions. In these cond part, a 35-item scale was used which is prepared by Kearney and Fleischer and translated by Nursel (Özkan) Nahcıvan. 193 physicians participated in the survey. Frequency analysis, percent distributions, chi-square test, t test and anova analysis were performed by using SPSS statistical program. As a result of the study, the mean score of self-care physicians was 119.11 ± 18.78. The mean scores of self-care power of the physicians who were faculty members were found to be higher than the GPs (p <0.05).

Hekimlerin Sağlık Öz Bakım Gücünün Değerlendirilmesi Üzerine Bir Çalışma
Terzi kendi söküğünü dikemez atasözünün sözlükteki anlamı: ‘Bir kimse uzmanlığını kullanarak başkalarına yararlı olur da bu uzmanlığı kendi yararına kullanmaya fırsat bulamaz’ olarak verilmektedir. (Aksoy, 1995). Bu çalışmanın amacı bu atasözünden yola çıkarak sağlık dağıtıcısı olarak nitelendirebileceğimiz hekimlerin kendi öz bakımlarına ne kadar dikkat ettiklerinin ortaya çıkarılmasıdır. Araştırmanın evrenini Konya ilindeki hekimler oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma anket yöntemiyle yapılmış olup, anket iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde demografik veriler ikinci bölümde ise Kearney ve Fleischer tarafından hazırlanıp Nursel (Özkan) Nahcıvan tarafından düzenlenen 35 maddelik ölçek yer almaktadır. Çalışmaya 193 doktor katılmış olup elde edilen veriler ile SPSS istatistik programı kullanılarak frekans yüzde dağılımları, ki-kare testi, t testi ve anova analizi yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda hekimlerin öz-bakım gücü puan ortalaması 119.11±18.78 olarak bulunmuştur. Ünvana göre karşılaştırma yapıldığında doktor öğretim üyesi olan hekimlerin öz bakım gücü puan ortalamalarının pratisyen ve uzman hekimlere göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05).
